A high-end academic seminar on the construction of new liberal arts and art methodology and the 65th anniversary of Mr. Huang Haicheng’s study was opened in Nanning On May 14th, 2022
It has been 10 years since art has been upgraded to an independent category. In order to promote the new development of the discipline, on the morning of May 14, a high-end academic seminar on the construction of new liberal arts and the methodology of art and the 65th anniversary of Mr. Huang Haicheng’s study was opened in Nanning. This seminar is hosted by Guangxi Academy of Arts, and co-organized by Guangxi Literature and Art Theory Society, Chinese Aesthetics Society, Chinese Society of Art Anthropology, Zhejiang University, Shanghai Normal University, Guangxi University for Nationalities, and Guangxi Normal University. The conference will last for two days from the 14th to the 15th. The theme of the conference is “High-end Academic Seminar on the Construction of New Liberal Arts and the Methodology of Arts Studies & the 65th Anniversary of Mr. Huang Haicheng’s Scholarship”. This conference paid tribute to Mr. Huang Haicheng, a famous aesthetician, literary theorist, leader of Chinese literary and artistic aesthetic methodology, one of the founders of Chinese art theory, and former Vice President of Guangxi Arts Institute. Take this opportunity to discuss with the experts, scholars, teachers and students from all over the country to discuss the new path of new liberal arts construction and art methodology.
Huang Haicheng, as a second-level professor, launched “The Aesthetic Principles of System Theory Cybernetics and Information Theory(《系统论控制论信息论美学原理》)” and created the “Three Theory of Aesthetics(“三论美学”)”; published the monograph “Art Axiology(《艺术价值论》)”, which made “The Study on Art Axiology(“艺术价值学”)” an academic hall. He launched “The Philosophy of Art(《艺术的哲学》)”, published “Art Aesthetics(《艺术美学》)”, published “Art New Thinking(《艺术新思维》)”, and built a complete artistic theoretical system – “Huang Haicheng’s Axiological Theory of Art”. Therefore, he is regarded as one of the pioneers and founders of the discipline of “Art Theory” in China. Since the 1980s, Mr. Huang Haicheng has cultivated a large number of professors and scholars with domestic and international influence, who are all over the world. He and the scholars he has trained have made significant contributions to the construction of a World-class, Chinese-scale, Chinese-characteristic Chinese literature and art aesthetics, Chinese art theory discipline system, academic system, discourse system and talent training system.

Mr. Huang Haicheng said that he was very pleased when he saw that the students he mentored had achieved a lot in academics. The symposium brought together many accomplished experts in the field of aesthetics and literary theory, which moved him very much. He hoped that in this academic conference, all participating experts, scholars and audiences can learn from each other from active discussions, further promote the research on aesthetics and literary theory, and enable the research in related disciplines to reach a new level.
Mr. Hou Daohui, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and President of Guangxi Academy of Arts, said in his speech that standing at an important historical node in the construction of new liberal arts, it is necessary to summarize historical experience, absorb the wisdom of predecessors, and inspire new ideas and inspirations, which has also become the main reason for holding this seminar. Main purpose: First, to deeply discuss Professor Huang Haicheng’s 65 years of academic theoretical achievements, to inherit his academic thoughts, and to climb the peak of literature and art; second, to take this opportunity to discuss with experts and scholars from all over the country the development of aesthetics and art theory under the background of new liberal arts.

At the opening ceremony, Mr. Gao Jianping (President of Chinese Society of Aesthetics), Mr. Wang Feng (Vice-President and Secretary-General of the Chinese Society of Literature and Art Theory), Ms. Fang Lili (President of China Art Anthropology Society), Mr. Wang Jianjiang (Head of the Institute of Aesthetics and Aesthetic Education, Shanghai Normal University, Honorary Director and Academic Advisor of the American Center for Chinese Bie-Modern Studies), Mr. Jiang Shuzhuo (Chairman of Guangdong Writers Association), Mr. Wang Jie (Vice President of the National Marxist-Leninist Literary Theory Society, Deputy Director of the Humanities Department of Zhejiang University) and Mr. Li Qijun (President of Guangxi Society of Aesthetics) delivered speeches respectively. In addition, the Center for Chinese Bie-Modern Studies (CCBMS) in the United States, the Center for Bie-Modern Studies in Slovenia (CBMS), a member of the European Union, as well as famous aestheticians and literary theorists, Professor Lao Chengwan, Professor Xia Zhongyi, and Professor Zhu Zhirong sent congratulatory letters and greetings to the seminar.
The symposium received more than 80 manuscripts from experts, scholars, doctoral students, and master students from more than 30 universities (including research institutes) across the country. Experts and scholars participating in the conference will focus on “New Liberal Arts Construction and Art Theory Construction”, “Crossing Scientific Methodology and New Liberal Arts Construction”, “History and Current Situation of Chinese Art Theoretical Discipline Construction”, “my country’s Literary and Art Aesthetics Methodology and Its Influence since the New Era”. In the new era, the domestic and foreign academic exchanges and their achievements of my country’s literature and art aesthetics research” “Art Theory and Aesthetics” six themes to carry out discussions and exchanges. Due to epidemic prevention and control reasons, the meeting was held simultaneously online and offline. A total of more than 200 people participated in the opening ceremony through the online venue, and more than 2,000 people watched the live broadcast.
