Mr. Wang Jianjiang’s speech at “High-end Academic Seminar on the Construction of New Liberal Arts and the Methodology of Arts Studies & the 65th Anniversary of Mr. Huang Haicheng’s Scholarship”
Respected Mr. Huang Haicheng, Ms. Xu Kongli, leaders of Guangxi Arts Institute, teachers, classmates, and guests:
Good morning everyone!
I am a student who has been personally instructed by Mr. Huang Haicheng for his postgraduate dissertation.
Here, I would like to share some of my own feelings.
First of all, Mr. Huang Haicheng is a “明”(means bright or clear-sighted )师(master). “明”师 is the name of the bright, the clear-eyed, not just the name of fame. Based on this, he emphasized the spirit of criticism and transcendence. Mr. Huang once said to me more than once that academic history is a history of criticism and a history of paradigmatic revolution.
Not only did he say it, he did it. Several times, teachers and friends have sent text messages and videos from important academic conferences, telling me that my teachers have been introducing my Bie-modernism more than once. In addition to being grateful, I am convinced that my teacher is a true seeker who understands the true meaning of academics and practices it personally. A few years ago, under the guidance of Mr.’s truth-seeking spirit and critical spirit, and inspired by his methodology, I without hesitation put forward the Bie-modernism based on Mr. Huang Haicheng’s cybernetic aesthetic adjustment thought and methodology, which is also based on self-regulation, self-renewal and self-transcendence way. I hope to spread Mr. Huang’s theory to Europe and the United States through the dissemination of Biemodernism in the academic circles at home and abroad. The birthday congratulatory letter to Mr. Huang Haicheng from academic institutions in Europe and the United States can illustrate the academic influence of a brilliant teacher and the achievements of teaching and educating people.
Secondly, Mr. Huang Haicheng is a thinker, educator and pioneer of the new liberal arts model with countless students. There are only a handful of graduate students who have personally supervised dissertations by my teacher, but the reason why so many well-known scholars are willing to be his students and take pride in being his students is that his theories are enlightening and admirable. His theories are widely distributed all over the world, and many beneficiaries are proud of having listened to his lectures and read his books. This shows that a master is measured by his status in people’s minds and the acceptance of his theories. My teacher is not only an academic pioneer and a builder of new methods, but also an enlightener and a guide who enlightens the mind. He is a true role model and pioneer in the new liberal arts teaching and educating model.
Thirdly, Mr. Huang Haicheng is a scholar with an organic unity of personality, academic quality and teacher quality. He firmly believed in Confucius’ “There is one thing that runs through my doctrine.” and said it repeatedly, both to clarify his aspirations and to enlighten us. In essence, this is to abide by the truth, keep the Tao as the same, follow the Tao as the same, and act as the Tao. Mr. Huang has always determined his life path by himself, showing his will to be independent; in the debate with scholars, he only obeys the truth, and reflects the idea of freedom, thus creating a highly organic unity of his personality, academic quality and teacher quality. This kind of morality has deeply influenced me, and let me take the Bie-modernism as a kind of doctrine whose essence is true, and take the Bie-modern theory as “One word” theory, and stick to it to the end.
In short, Mr. Huang Haicheng is my academic leader, as well as the cultivator and caregiver of the formation and development of my thoughts. His kindness is indescribable, and it can only be briefly mentioned here as a tribute.
Finally, I sincerely wish my teacher good health, happiness like the East China Sea, longevity of Nanshan Mountain, and eternal academic life.
