Professor Wang Jianjiang from Shanghai Normal University was invited to give an academic lecture at Lanzhou University of Finance and Economics.

On the afternoon of April 4th, at 3:00 PM, Lanzhou University of Finance and Economics invited Professor Wang Jianjiang, from the School of Humanities at Shanghai Normal University, as well as a doctoral supervisor and the head of the Institute of Aesthetic Education. Professor Wang is also the honorary director and academic advisor of the CCBMS in the United States. He delivered an academic lecture titled “The Way of Life in Bie-Modernism” at the Xinglong Lecture Hall for the faculty and students . The lecture was hosted by Vice Dean Wang Sheng from the School of Business and Communication.

The report consists of five parts: Bie-modern Communication, Stories of Life, Theory of Life, Aesthetics of Life, and Aesthetic Criticism of the Life Equity. Professor Wang Jianjiang led the students by starting with an explanation of what Bie-modern and Bie-modernism are. He introduced a theory regarding social forms and stages of social development. Bie-modernism is an original theory proposed by Professor Wang Jianjiang, an aesthetician, in 2014. It has attracted extensive attention and discussion in the fields of philosophy, aesthetics, and art both domestically and internationally. The theory of Bie-modernism aims to establish true modernity by departing from the mindset of “being different from” and utilizing innovative discourse and thinking.
The students present at the event actively interacted with Professor Wang regarding the theories he discussed. In the end, Vice Dean Wang Sheng summarized and organized the contents of Professor Wang’s report. He hoped that both the teachers and the students would further contemplate on these issues. This academic presentation allowed the students at Lanzhou University of Finance and Economics to gain an understanding of Bie-modernism theory and its application in artistic appreciation.
