“The Dissemination and Development of Chinese-Style Discourse in the West” and The 9th International Conference on Bie-Modernism were successfully held in Shanghai
On October 26th, “The Dissemination and Development of Chinese-Style Discourse in the West” and the 9th International Conference on Bie-modernism, co-hosted by the School of Humanities, Institute of Aesthetics and Aesthetic Education, Shanghai Normal University, Center for Chinese Bie-modern Studies in the United States, and Center for Bie-modern Studies in Slovenia, and sponsored by Shanghai Chengxun Electronic Technology Co. More than 100 senior professors, renowned artists, young and middle-aged scholars, and undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate students from more than 50 universities or research institutes, including Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences, Fudan University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Shanghai University, East China University of Political Science and Law, Shenzhen University, Central South University, Guangzhou University, Xinjiang University, Yangzhou University, Sichuan Normal University, Jiangxi Normal University, etc, participated in the event both online and offline.
The opening ceremony of the symposium was hosted by Yaxiong Guo, Associate Professor of the College of Humanities, Shanghai Normal University.
Prof. Zhu Hengfu, Director of the Academic Committee and Doctoral Supervisor of Shanghai Normal University, Prof. Jill Drake, Vice President and Provost of Southwest Georgia State University in USA, Prof. Liu Chang, Vice Dean of School of Humanities of Shanghai Normal University, Prof. Ernst Ženko, Director of the Center for Bie-modern Studies of University of Primorska in Slovenia, Prof. Mark Laughlin, Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences of Georgia Southwestern State University in USA, Prof. Keaton Wayne, Director of the Center for Chinese Bie-modern Studies of Georgia Southwestern State University in USA, Prof. Wang Jianjiang, Director of the Institute of Aesthetics and Aesthetic Education of Shanghai Normal University, doctoral supervisor and founder of Bie-modernism theory, delivered speeches successively.
At the opening ceremony, Dr. Yang Kang from China Social Science Publishing House, the responsible editor of Prof. Wang Jianjiang’s latest monograph Aesthetics of Bie-modernism, firstly introduced the publication of the book and unveiled the book together with Prof. Li Xinfeng, Prof. Ma Zhengping and Prof. Wang Jianjiang. After that, four famous professors, Li Xinfeng, a member of the 7th State Council Art Discipline Review Group, Zhu Hengfu of Shanghai Normal University, Rong Yueming of Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences, and Li Benqian of Shanghai Jiaotong University, presented awards to the young scholars and postgraduate students who won the “Bie-modernism Young Scholars’ Prize”, such as Zhao Shihua, Lin Jiafeng, Li Jun, Xu Yingying, Xing Juanni and Wang Hui, etc.
After the opening ceremony, the keynote speeches of the conference were chaired by Prof. Xiao Minghua and commented by Prof. Ren Huadong. Prof. Li Xinfeng, Prof. Ernst Ženko, Prof. Rong Yueming, Prof. Ma Zhengping, Prof. Yang Yongmao, Prof. Jane Shengyu, and writer Zhao Yanming spoke on the topics of “The Contribution of Bie-modernism to Contemporary Chinese Aesthetics and Discourse in the Humanities and Social Sciences”and “Navigating the Complexities of AI and Transhumanism Through the Lens of Bie-Modern Theory” and “Some Thoughts on ‘The Dissemination and Development of Chinese-Style Discourse in the West’”and “Bie-modernism: An Exploration of a ‘ New Modernism ‘ Philosophy and Aesthetics”and “’Bie Theory’ Explains Subtleties”and “Construction of an Independent Knowledge System and Bie-Modern Theory Practice and “Life Equity Theory and African Philosophy”. Prof. Xie Jinliang, Prof. Zhao Jianjun, and lawyer Yu Guangrong participated in the free discussion of related topics.
The symposium is divided into three forums, mainly focusing on various aspects of traditional Chinese culture under the perspective of Bie-modernism, literary theory, literature, jurisprudence, aesthetics, painting, music, games, online communication, film and television, and artificial intelligence.
It is reported that the theory of Bie-modernism is a philosophical and aesthetic theory pioneered by our professor Wang Jianjiang, which has had a wide and lasting impact in the domestic and international academic, artistic and literary circles since it was put forward at the China-Russia High-level Cultural Forum in 2014, and well-known universities in the United States and European member states of Slovenia have established Bie-modernism Theory Research Centers on their own, and there is an academic website of Bie-modernism built in Italy. In Europe, Filozofski Vestnik, Art and Media Studies, and in China, Literary Review, Theoretical Studies in Literature and Art, China Social Science Review, China Literature and Art Criticism, Exploration and Free Views and other famous journals have published more than 200 research papers on related topics in Chinese, English, Italian and Slovenian, and more than 40 groups of column articles. In recent years, Bie-modernism has published 5 series of books, completed 1 National Social Science Foundation project, 5 provincial and ministerial projects, 1 provincial quality course textbook, 1 MOOC on Bie-modernist Aesthetics, and has made remarkable achievements in academic research, teaching, artistic creation, poetry creation, Bie-modernist Cultural Computing, etc., and is developing along the direction of the creation of the Bie-modernist International Academic School and formation of the artistic school. This conference is also the first of a series of conferences on the theory of allo-modernism. This conference is also a summary of the results of the 10th anniversary of the birth of the theory of Bie-modernism.
